This patient had severe dental tartar and gingivitis. In the before image, you can see bleeding gums and black calculus. We ultrasonically scaled the teeth, including under the gum, polished the enamel to help minimize plaque adhesion, and treated the teeth with fluoride. We applied a sealant which repels bacterial plaque for 2 weeks. At that point, with proper home care such as regular brushing, the progression of dental disease will be much slower.
